Copyright Policy

This page is for rights holders. If you are a reader wondering whether you can
use a lyric or quote from this site in your own posts, that is answered on
can I actually use these.

The short version

We quote short excerpts – lyrics, quotations, lines – for reference and
identification, with attribution to the author or artist where it is known.
Copyright in those works stays with their owners. If your work is here and you
want it credited differently or removed, write to [email protected] and we will deal with it
promptly. We would rather take something down than argue about it.

Formal notice

If you prefer to send a formal takedown notice, include all of the following:

  1. Identification of the copyrighted work you say has been infringed.
  2. The URL of the page on this site, and the specific material on it.
  3. Your contact details – name, address, email.
  4. A statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorised by
the rights holder, its agent, or the law.
  5. A statement that the information in your notice is accurate, and – under
penalty of perjury – that you are the rights holder or authorised to act for
    them.
  6. Your physical or electronic signature.

Send it to [email protected], addressed to the Designated Agent.

Counter-notice

If material of yours was removed and you believe that was a mistake or
misidentification, you can send a counter-notice to the same address with the
material identified, its former location, your contact details, a statement under
penalty of perjury that you believe it was removed in error, and your consent to
the jurisdiction of the appropriate court.

Repeat infringers

Contributors who repeatedly infringe will have their access removed.
